Midwife Simulation Sessions

Scheduled by request
Overview:
Have a difficult repair you’d like to recreate and work through? Need to refine your knot-tying skills or work on handling your instruments with ease? Simulations sessions are just for you!

Simulations sessions are the perfect way to hone your suturing and knot-tying skills, or work through simulated repair of birth lacerations with the guidance of a mentor. The small group sessions let you focus on the areas that are your priority, while learning from questions and experiences of others. While there is no formal educational component, and thus no CE, simulation hours are available for students.

Each participant must have their own instruments (a needle holder, tissue forceps, suture scissors, and small clamp are recommended), sutures, and models. Models can be foam, foam and fabric, synthetic perineums, or tissue, such as beef tongue, turkey breast (preferably with skin), beef roast, pork roast, or chicken breast (great for simulation of friable tissues). For information about materials and models, please see our Simulation Supplies link on our Resources page.
All Sim Sessions are limited to 6 participants.
